Description: The Emily Morgan Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. Located adjacent to the Alamo, it was originally constructed as the Medical Arts Building in 1924. The building was designed by architect Ralph Cameron and was influenced by Gothic revival that was fashionable in the 1920s. In 1984, the building became the Emily Morgan Hotel. According to folklore, Emily Morgan (Emily D. West) was an attractive twenty-year old black indentured servant who distracted General Santa Anna and led to the Mexicans' loss at the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836.
