Description: Postcard photo of Santa Fe's number one engine after it was rebuilt post-1937. The railroad started rebuilding these locomotives at that time because of the advent of Electro-Motive's en:EMC E1 diesels. The locomotives originally looked like this File:ATSF1 1935.JPG, and were changed to more closely resemble the E1s. The passenger locomotive, which may be either the Super Chief or The Chief, is at the Fort Madison, Iowa, depot. Fort Madison was one of the stops for the Santa Fe between Chicago and California.
