Description: Shadow Ranch, a historic ranch house, and a Los Angeles City Park, in the western San Fernando Valley, Southern California. Built in redwood, surrounding an existing adobe, by Alfred Workman during 1869-1872. He also imported the first Blue Gum Eucalyptus trees (Eucalyptus globulus) to California. Their shadow patterns on the residence inspired a later owner to name it Shadow Ranch, and towering Blue Gums are now one of the state's iconic symbols. Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #9, located at 22633 Vanowen Street, West Hills, Los Angeles.
