Description: This photo was taken at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. The figure it depicts is the god Shiva, as can be seen from the chignon hairstyle and from the third eye in the middle of the forehead. It is made of electrum and is dated approximately 800 A.D. Originally it would have been attached to a kosa, or ornate metal sleeve placed over a lingam.
