Description: Church of England parish church of St Martin, Sandford St Martin, Oxfordshire: hatchments over the chancel arch: Left: w:Henry Scott, 1st Earl of Deloraine (1676–1730), of Leadwell House (demolished, now "Ledwell"), in the parish of Sandford St Martin, the second surviving son of James Scott, 1st Duke of Monmouth (the illegitimate son of King Charles II by his mistress Lucy Walter) by his wife Anne Scott, 1st Duchess of Buccleuch, daughter of Francis Scott, 2nd Earl of Buccleuch. He adopted the arms and surname "Scott", from his wife's family. Arms of Scott of Buccleuch (Or, on a bend Azure a mullet of six points between two crescents of the first) circumscribed by the motto of the Order of the Bath: Tria Juncta In Uno (Latin for "Three joined in one"), a reference to the union of England, Scotland and Ireland, and/ or to the Holy Trinity. In 1693 he married Anne Duncombe (d. 1720), a daughter of William Duncombe of Batthesden, Lord Chief Justice of Ireland. They had three surviving children, including Francis Scott, 2nd Earl of Deloraine (1710–39). Earl of Deloraine was a title in the Peerage of Scotland.
