Description: St Mary's Church, Addington, near to Addington, Croydon, Great Britain. The village of Addington goes back to pre-Norman times, and despite it being only a few miles from the centre of Croydon, it still retains its small village atmosphere (but in recent decades without shops or post office!). The Church, built in 1080 with later additions, and nearby Palace on the edge of the village (Addington Palace) was used regularly by Archbishops of Canterbury in earlier centuries, and indeed five Archbishops of Canterbury are buried at the church.
