Description: George Harris MLC, Queensland, ca. 1870. Merchant. Born in 1831 in London. Married Jane Thorn at Ipswich on 13 October 1860. Died 28 March 1891 in Brisbane. Arrived in Brisbane 1848 with brother John and established a large wool shipping and importing firm. Large investment cotton plant at Harrisville near Ipswich. 1876 insolvent. Consul for the United States in Queensland. MLC from 23 May 1860 till 31 August 1876. (Description supplied with photograph).
