Description: The Royal Navy during the Second World War Ship fitted with AND (Admiralty Net Defence). This was fitted to merchantmen on certain occasions to counter enemy torpedo attacks. Though the method was effective in catching the torpedo, the speed of the ship was slowed down to such an extent that the device was seldom used in convoy.
