Description: The Second World War 1939 - 1945- the War in the Far East 1941 - 1945 Men of the Devonshire Regiment sign their autographs on Japanese flags captured at Nippon Ridge during the Battle of Imphal-Kohima, March - July 1944. The battle resulted from a Japanese Operation 'U-GO' designed to drive the British and Commonwealth troops back into India. The campaign was ended on 18 July 1944 after which the Japanese were forced onto the defensive.
