In 1982, Lower Thornburg was designated a National Historic District. It is notable as a document of the nationwide movement in community planning and landscape design at the turn of the century." I saw many nice, old homes in Thornburg. Also, it seemed that all of the streets were named after well-known colleges. Thornburg Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
