Description: Number 12 of the original 31 markers (22 surviving) of the boundary of the Tower Liberties "Beating the Bounds" ceremony. It stands outside Trinity House in the section of Trinity Square that adjoins Cooper's Row, London EC3. The W.D. stands for War Department. The Broad Arrow symbol denotes ownership by the Board of Ordinance. At a cursory glance the marker appears to be made of stone but is actually made of iron. This marker is one of 8 in the City of London listed by Historic England under reference no.1393921 and is possibly from 1868.
