The non-striker is the England captain, Ian Botham, who later top-scored with 33. Play was abandoned for the day with England 94-6. This is the view from the top of the old concrete double-deck Radcliffe Road End, looking towards the Pavilion and, on the left, the Ladies' Pavilion, which was replaced by the Hound Road Stand.
