Description: Illustration of the seal of the U.S. President's Committee on Employment of the Physically Handicapped from Executive Order 10555 (which defined the seal). The design is described there as: On a light blue disk an American bald eagle with wings displayed and inverted, standing upon a spur gear issuing from base all proper. On an encircling dark blue band edged with gold the inscription THE PRESIDENT'S COMMITTEE ON EMPLOYMENT OF THE PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED." in gold letters. The Committee was succeeded by the President's Committee on Employment of People With Disabilities, which in turn was made into the Office of Disability Employment Policy, an agency in the Department of Labor, in 2001.
