Description: The Van Ness Mausoleum located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Designed by George Hadfield in 1833, the mausoleum was built for the family of John Van Ness. It was located on H Street, NW until being moved to Oak Hill Cemetery in 1873. The Van Ness Mausoleum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a contributing property to the Georgetown Historic District.
