Description: Postcard of Tower Parade, Herne Bay, Kent, England, by Fred C Palmer. The photo was taken from the pier, and shows the beach east of the pier. The clothes worn by the people suggest a date 1910-1914. Points of interest Between the clock tower and the buildings, Reculver can be seen in the background, still having the metal superstructures on the towers. Hoys (small boats) are still in use for fishing and for giving rides to tourists. Everyone is overdressed by 21st century standards; no-one swims; children can only paddle in their formal clothes.
