Description: The Volta Bureau, (also known as the Alexander Graham Bell Laboratory, Bell Carriage House, Bell Laboratory, and Volta Laboratory) located at 3414 Volta Place, N.W., in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Built in 1893 to the designs of architectural firm Peabody and Stearns, the neoclassical Volta Bureau was designated a National Historic Landmark (NHL) in 1972. In addition, the building is designated as a contributing property to the Georgetown Historic District, a NHL historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1967.
