Description: The Waterloo Elm, pencil and scraper, by Anna Children (1799–1871). This tree had marked Wellington’s HQ at Waterloo, and had been stripped for souvenirs. It was cut down not long after this drawing was made; the artist’s father then obtained the wood, from which a chair was made as a gift to George IV.
