Description: Coventry Police's Museum inhabits the basement of the city centre's police station in Little Park Street. It houses historic memorabilia, police uniforms through the ages, confiscated weapons and tales of some of Coventry's most infamous crimes - including Mary Ball who was hanged for poisoning her husband with arsenic in 1849 in front of an estimated crowd of 20,000 onlookers. She was the last woman to be publicly executed in Coventry and the death mask of her face welcomes visitors to the museum as they come in through the door. The charge desk in the photograph sat in the cell block well over hundred years ago. This image forms part of the West Midlands Police 'Photo of the Day 2012' project.
