Raymond Hoyt "Ray" Thornton, Jr. (July 16, 1928 – April 13, 2016) was an American politician. He was a member of the Democratic Party. He was a member of the U.S. Representative for Arkansas' 4th congressional district from 1973 to 1979 and the 2nd district from 1991 to 1997.

He studied among others at Yale University.

Thornton died in Little Rock, Arkansas on April 13, 2016, aged 87.
