Scranton is an unincorporated community in the Amargosa Valley and Amargosa Desert, in Inyo County, eastern California.
The settlement was named after Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Geography
Scranton was located on the former Tonopah and Tidewater Railroad line, at an elevation of 2234 feet (681 m). It is 13 miles (21 km) northeast of Ryan, a former mining town in the Amargosa Mountains,.
