Sidney is a town in Kennebec County, Maine, United States. The population was 4,645 at the 2020 census. Sidney was incorporated as a town on January 30, 1792. The town was named for Sir Philip Sidney, an English author. Sidney is included in the Augusta, Maine micropolitan New England City and Town Area. Since 1937, the town is the home of the New England Music Camp.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 45.51 square miles (117.87 km2), of which, 42.25 square miles (109.43 km2) of it is land and 3.26 square miles (8.44 km2) is water.

As of the census of 2010, there were 4,208 people, 1,607 households, and 1,196 families residing in the town. The population density was 99.6 inhabitants per square mile (38.5/km2). There were 1,850 housing units at an average density of 43.8 per square mile (16.9/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.0% White, 0.1% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.1% from other races, and 1.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.7% of the population.

There were 1,607 households, of which 36.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.3% were married couples living together, 8.6% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.5% had a male householder with no wife present, and 25.6% were non-families. 17.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 2.92.

The median age in the town was 41.4 years. 24% of residents were under the age of 18; 6.2% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 26% were from 25 to 44; 32.7% were from 45 to 64; and 11.2% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the town was 50.4% male and 49.6% female.
