South Bohemia is an administrative unit (kraj) of the Czech Republic. The capital city is České Budějovice.

The Bohemian Forest is in the south-west. The region is located in the drainage basin of Vltava river. Other significant rivers are Malše, Lužnice, Otava, Nežárka and Lomnice. South Bohemia is famous for its countless ponds. Rožmberk Pond is the largest one. Much of Šumava National Park is also in the region.
