Stephen "Steve" Friedman (born December 21, 1937) is an American intelligence officer and businessman. He was the former chairman of the United States President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board. He was nominated on October 27, 2005, to replace Brent Scowcroft in the position. He served as the 5th Director of the National Economic Council from 2002 to 2005.
