Trechus is a genus of ground beetles. It is found across Europe, the Middle East and northern Asia. The genus contains hundreds of species.
The name comes from the Greek word trécho, meaning "I run".
Species were first organised into this genus in 1806, by Joseph Philippe de Clairville.
