Description: Former Silk Exchange Building constructed in 1894 (now "Haggin Building" after its long time owner). It used to be home to diverse silk manufacturing companies as well as the Silk Association of America. This SoHo architecture combines cast iron building technique with intricate terra cotta work on the upper floors. It is located at 451-Broome-Street / 487 Broadway and here seen from Greene Street. The slender shape comes from the lot's width of only 28 feet (8.5 m) compared to a depth of 200 feet (61 m).
