Description: The official county flag of Loudoun County, Virginia. Blazon: Gyronny of eight ermine and gules, a bordure embattled vert goutty argent. The green bordure represents the county's agricultural economy; the white drops represent the milk of the dairy industry; the embattled bordure represents the Monroe Doctrine. Created by the College of Arms in the United Kingdom. It was officially adopted in 1968 by the Loudoun County Board of Commissioners. Information about the flag itself can be found here and here. The Arms are based on those of the 4th Earl of Loudoun, one-time Commander-in-Chief of the British Armed Forces in North America and Governor of Virginia, after whom Loudoun County was named. The 4th Earl of Loudoun's Arms are described, in heraldic language, as Gyronny Ermine and Gules.
