Description: The Manhattan Laundry complex located at 1326-1346 Florida Avenue, NW in the U Street Corridor of Washington, D.C. Its comprised of three buildings constructed between 1877 to 1936: West Building (Washington & Georgetown Railroad Company Car Barn) - (1877; Industrial Vernacular; designed by John B. Brady), steam plant (1908), and addition (1926; designed by A.S.J. Atkinson) South Building - stable and warehouse (1911; Late Victorian) East Building - rug cleaning plant and dry cleaning facility (1936; Art Deco; designed by Alexander M. Pringle), and administrative offices (pictured; 1936; Art Deco; designed by Bedford Brown) The Manhattan Laundry is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a contributing property to the Greater U Street Historic District.
