From a collection of Depression-era photos made for the w:Farm Security Administration. Photographs show easternmost Illinois city on the Ohio River, an important port, banking, and salt producing center in early days. The river, formerly the greatest source of wealth, in January, 1937, completely inundated the cup-like site of the town, resulting in the present devastation.
