John McLaughlin (March 29, 1927 – August 16, 2016) was an American television personality and producer, politician, writer, and political commentator. He created and hosts the long-running political commentary series The McLaughlin Group as well as John McLaughlin's One On One. He also ran for senator of Rhode Island in 1970, but lost the election to incumbent John O. Pastore.
